First Launch

1

Take the short tour

Three quick screens show what TennisCut does: capture every point, AI trimming and rally detection, and the tools to review and share your game.

2

Try the player on a sample video

A guided tutorial on a sample match shows you the player gestures, ball trajectory, Coach Eye, rally navigation and point export before you record anything.

3

Sign in and set up your profile

Sign in with Apple, Google or email, then add your name, playing hand and rating. Signing in keeps your session history in sync. Your videos always stay on your phone.

4

Choose your plan and allow access

Start with the free plan or TennisCut Pro, then allow camera and photo library access so the app can record and save your matches.

Camera Setup

Where you put your phone matters more than anything else. The AI needs to see the whole court to find the ball and the rallies.

1

Center it behind the baseline

Place the phone in the middle of the court, behind one baseline, looking down the full length of the court.

2

Go as high as you can

Mount it high on the fence or on a tall tripod. A higher view shows more of the far side of the court and keeps players from blocking the ball.

3

Hold it horizontally

Record in landscape. TennisCut asks you to rotate the phone if it is vertical.

4

Zoom in, but keep all four corners

Zoom in as much as possible while all four corners of the court stay in the frame. The in-app Camera Setup Guide shows bad, good, better and best examples.

ℹ️
Tip: A fence mount or clamp is the easiest way to get a high, steady, centered view on most courts.

Recording a Match

1

Start a new session

Tap New, then Record, and choose the session type: Match, Serve Practice, Rally or Ball Machine.

2

Turn on AI analysis

With Pro, switch on AI analysis so TennisCut detects rallies and removes the dead time automatically. Without it you still get the full recording and all free review tools.

3

Check the setup and press record

Follow the Camera Setup Guide, then start recording. The screen stays on for the whole session.

ℹ️
Battery: About a minute after you start, TennisCut turns off the camera preview to save battery and keeps recording. Tap Show to see the preview again.

You can also control the recording from a second phone, or from your Apple Watch if you use an iPhone. For serve practice, stand close to the camera; one player is tracked.

Importing Videos

Already have match videos? Import them from your photo library or files and review them in the TennisCut player. AI analysis of imported videos is part of Pro.

⚠️
Best results: Use horizontal videos filmed from behind the baseline. Vertical videos can be imported, but the AI is less accurate on them.

Apple Watch

The TennisCut Apple Watch app works together with the iPhone app. From your wrist you can:

  • Keep the live score, including deuce, advantage and tiebreaks
  • Record your heart rate, active calories and distance as a tennis workout
  • Open the camera and start or stop the recording on your phone

When you finish, the session is sent to your iPhone. Wear OS watches are not supported yet.

The Video Player

The TennisCut player is built for tennis, so reviewing a match takes minutes, not hours.

  • Double-tap to skip back or forward 5 seconds.
  • Press and hold to watch in 0.25× slow motion.
  • Coach Eye (free): step through any shot frame by frame. Hold to scrub, tap to advance.
  • Ball trajectory (Pro): see the path of every shot drawn over the video.
  • Rally navigation (Pro): jump from one rally to the next and star your favorites.
  • Stroke highlights (Pro, iPhone): jump straight to your forehands, backhands or serves.
  • Video insights (Pro): see the details of each session.

Editing Rallies

After a recording with AI analysis, TennisCut splits the match into numbered rallies. In the rally editor you can delete, split or adjust any rally, and undo if you change your mind. Then tap Trim & export to save a new video with only the rallies, without the dead time between points.

You can also add or edit the score of each session on the scoreboard.

Exporting and Sharing

  • Full recordings are saved to your phone's gallery automatically.
  • Export this point (Pro): save a single point, with the ball trajectory drawn on if you like.
  • Vertical 9:16 export (Pro): TennisCut reframes the point and follows the ball, ready for Reels, Shorts and TikTok.
  • Merge & export (Pro): combine your favorite rallies into one highlight video.
  • Match recap card (free): share the score and session stats as an image.

Everything you export is a normal video or image on your phone, so you can send it to your coach or friends with Messages, WhatsApp, email, AirDrop or any other app.
